Navodya Group Pvt. Ltd. : ER. Shuttering Oil is a high-performance chemical mold release agent formulated for steel, plywood, plastic, and aluminum formwork in concrete construction.

What is ER Shuttering Oil and How Does It Function?

ER Shuttering Oil is an engineered blend of refined mineral oils and chemical release additives. When applied in a thin film to formwork plates, it reacts with the free lime in freshly poured concrete to form a micro-thin water-repellent barrier between the formwork and concrete.

This chemical release mechanism prevents concrete from adhering to shuttering plates. It allows effortless, damage-free striking of formwork, produces clean concrete corners and smooth surface finishes, and extends the operational life of expensive shuttering materials.

Application Guide for Formwork

Applying a thin, uniform coating yields the best concrete finish and highest coverage.

  • Formwork Cleaning: Clean shuttering plates or plywood to remove old hardened concrete, rust, and dirt before application.
  • Application Methods: Apply using a low-pressure garden sprayer, roller, brush, or clean cloth.
  • Thin Coating: Apply a single, ultra-thin, continuous film across the entire formwork surface. Avoid thick pooling of oil.
  • Excess Removal: If excess oil pools in corners, wipe off with a dry sponge or cloth prior to placing steel reinforcement.
  • Timing: Can be applied well before rebar fixing; it dries to a non-tacky film that will not wash away in light rain.

Protects Formwork Investment

Inhibits rust on steel plates and prevents water absorption and delamination in marine shuttering plywood.

Stain-Free Concrete Finish

Will not discolor, stain, or leave oily residue on exposed fair-faced concrete, ensuring excellent plaster adhesion.

Frequently Asked Questions About Shuttering Oil

No. When applied in a thin, uniform film as directed, it leaves a clean, unstained fair-faced concrete surface suitable for painting or exposed finishes.

No. Unlike burnt motor oils or waste lubricants, ER Shuttering Oil reacts chemically and leaves no residual grease that could debond subsequent plaster or paint.

Yes. It is formulated to perform exceptionally well on steel formwork, aluminum molds, film-faced plywood, and timber formwork.

On smooth steel and plastic formwork, 1 liter covers approximately 35 to 45 square meters. On timber or unsealed plywood, coverage is approximately 20 to 25 square meters.

Waste engine oil permanently discolors concrete, ruins plaster adhesion, creates surface blowholes, and degrades shuttering plywood rapidly. ER Shuttering Oil protects your shuttering and ensures flawless concrete.
